Privacy Policy

PRIVACY 101 What we think about when we think about privacy Discover Nature Apps deals with location and social information, and we’re excited to have so many passionate users both trust us and find the Discover Nature Apps app useful enough to open it up every day. However, we know an important concern for most anyone using location-based services is privacy. We want everyone to feel comfortable that their trust has been well placed, which is why we’ve written this description of our privacy ethos - the guiding principles that inform how we develop Discover Nature Apps and the decisions we make. Our full Privacy Policy is available here and our Privacy FAQs are available here. Discover Nature Apps is meant to help you make the most of where you are when outdoors, and, as such, we attempt to craft our product so that your digital privacy mirrors what real-world privacy is like. Here’s an example of what that means: When you post a field tip, it’s like telling a friend where you are and what you’ve seen. Your field tips are ONLY shared with others when you proactively decide to post a field tip to tell other Discover Nature Apps users that you’ve seen something worth posting. When you share a score from a paritcular location it’s like telling a friend that you were somwhere and had a rewarding experience that you want them to know about. Your scores are ONLY shared with others when you proactively decide to share them with others. Discover Nature Apps deals with location, so in order to work, Discover Nature Apps needs to know your location. Whenever you open and use/ interact with the Discover Nature Apps app on your mobile device we use the location information from your mobile device (e.g., latitude and longitude) to tailor the Discover Nature Apps experience to your current location (i.e., we’ll show you a list of nearby locations, photos, and tips). This information is NOT shared with others. SHARING LOCATION Your location data is ONLY shared with others when you proactively decide to share information in the form of posting a “field tip”, sharing a score or photos, etc. The location information shared with a “field tip”, photo or score, is the location information of that place. Each of your Discover Nature Apps field tips, photos, and scores is saved to your “My Profile section” which allows you to look back at all the field tips, photos, and scores you’ve posted, collected or earned at all the locations you’ve used the app since you created your Discover Nature Apps account. SHARING TO THIRD PARTY SERVICES (I.E., TWITTER, FACEBOOK, GOOGLE+) Discover Nature Apps gives you the option of sharing some of your activities and accomplishments to your Twitter, Facebook, and/or Google+ accounts. Of course, when you publish Discover Nature Apps experiences or accomplishments to Twitter, Facebook or Google+, this information will be viewable by the communities on those services (and in the case of Twitter, may be discoverable by search engines). YOUR PRIVACY IS IMPORTANT The bottom line is that we understand how important privacy is to you. From the beginning we’ve been working hard to build a range of robust privacy controls into the Discover Nature Apps experience to give users control over the amount of information they share about their location. WANT TO READ MORE ABOUT OUR APPROACH TO PRIVACY? For further information on Discover Nature Apps’s approach to these issues, please see our Privacy Policy that follows.
